WEST BENGAL PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (WBPSC) INVITES ONLINE APPLICATION FOR 26 LIBRARIAN. LAST DATE — 25/11/2019
LIBRARIAN
No. of Vacancies: 26 Nos. (SC-6; ST-2; OBC-5; PH (Blind/Low vision)- 1)
Educational Qualification: Master’s Degree in Library Science/Information Science/ Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks* (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and a consistently good academic record.
*Relaxation of marks: Candidates belonging to SC/ST/ OBC/ PH category are applicable for relaxation of 5% marks in above said qualification. Ph.D. Degree holders who have obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19 Sept 1991 are also eligible to relaxation of 5% marks in above said qualification.
Candidates should have qualified in the National/ State Eligibility Test (NET/SLET/SET) for Librarianship conducted by the University Grants
Commission or the West Bengal College Service Commission or any other agency approved by the University Grants Commission. Not required for candidates who have Ph.D. Degree. See official advertisement for more details.
Candidates must have knowledge regarding Computerization of Library.
Proficiency (spoken and written) in Bengali & English are required for all Colleges except Banarhat Hindi College for which proficiency in Hindi & English are required.
NOTE: Candidates must have ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (Not required for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali)
Age Limit: Not more than 40 years
Pay Scale: Rs.15600 — Rs.39100 and Grade pay of Rs.6000/- plus other allowances.
Upper Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST, 03 years for OBC and 10 years for PWD category. Ex-Serviceman & Others, if any — As per Govt. norms. SC/ST, OBC candidates belonging to state other than West Bengal will be treated as General category candidates.
Candidates’ Selection: Selection of the candidates will be through Written Examination and Interview.
