The NABARD SIS 2026-27 is designed to assign short-term tasks, projects, and studies of contemporary relevance to talented students, providing NABARD with valuable feedback and fresh perspectives on its interventions at the ground level. All interns selected under SIS 2026-27 will be required to study one of five pre-defined NABARD intervention themes. The scheme also serves as an exercise for the documentation of success stories of NABARD’s projects, programmes, schemes, and activities at the field level. Selected students will receive a stipend of Rs. 20,000/- per month along with field visit allowances and other financial support.

NABARD SIS 2026-27 Seat Allocation

A total of 39 seats have been allocated under the scheme — 34 seats for Regional Offices (ROs) and Training Establishments (TEs), with 1 seat per RO/TE, and 5 seats for the Head Office, Mumbai. The Head Office seats are open to students from across the country, while seats in a particular State RO/TE are restricted to students either studying in that State or belonging to (ordinarily resident of) that State.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Students pursuing a post-graduate degree/PGDM (having completed/completing 1st year) in Agriculture and allied disciplines (Veterinary, Fisheries, etc.), Agribusiness, Economics, Agri-economics, Social Sciences, and Management from reputed Institutes/Universities are eligible. Students pursuing 5-year integrated courses who have completed/are completing their 4th year are also eligible. Indian students studying abroad can also apply for SIS 2026-27.

State-wise Restriction: Students applying for internship at a particular State Regional Office or Training Establishment must either be pursuing their degree from that State or must belong to that State (i.e., must be an ordinary resident of that State). However, the 5 seats at Head Office, Mumbai are open to students from across India with no state restriction.

NABARD SIS 2026-27 Internship Themes

All interns selected under SIS 2026-27 will be required to study one of the following five pre-defined NABARD intervention themes:

Theme B: Role of Computerization of PACS in Enhancing their Operational Efficiency

Theme C: Impact Assessment of FPOs promoted under NABARD, their Sustainability and Market Linkage

Theme D: Impact of GI Registration — Post Registration Opportunities and Challenges

Theme E: Rural Women Entrepreneurs — Migrating from SHG Members to Individual Entrepreneur: Challenges and Opportunities

NABARD SIS 2026-27 Selection Process

The selection for NABARD Student Internship Scheme 2026-27 is carried out in two stages.

Stage 1 – Shortlisting: Applicants are shortlisted for interview based on a weighted score system calculated on the basis of marks obtained in Class 10th, Class 12th, and Graduation.

Stage 2 – Interview: The final selection of students is based solely on their performance in the interview. Interviews are tentatively scheduled to be completed by 22nd June 2026.

NABARD SIS 2026-27 Financial Support

NABARD provides the following financial support to selected interns:
