Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Boys as Navik (General Duty/ Domestic Branch) in Indian Coast Guard

Indian Coast Guard is recruiting few hundred boys for the post of “Navik (General Duty)” and “Navik Domestic Branch (Cook and Steward)”. Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Boys may apply for the post. Details below –

Navik – Domestic Branch (Cook and Steward): Madhyamik pass boys with minimum 50% marks in aggregate may apply for the post.
Date of birth should be within 1 October, 1990 to 30 September, 1994.
Eyesight – with good eyes 6/18 and with bad eyes-6/36.
Salary: Rs. 5200 – Rs. 20,200. And grade pay Rs. 1900.

Navik (General Duty): Higher Secondary pass boys in science discipline with subjects – Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science and may have octane 60% marks in aggregate may apply for the post.
Date of birth of the candidates should be within 1 August, 1990 – 30 July, 1994.
Required Eyesight – with good eyes 6/6 and weight the bad eyes 6/9. Candidate with glass is not eligible to apply.
Salary: Rs. 5200 – Rs. 20,200 and Grade pay: Rs. 2000.

For both above mentioned posts age relaxation is – OBC candidate-03 years, SC/ST candidates-05 years.

Physical Measurement: Height – 157 cm (152 cm for candidate of Gorkha, Nepali and Assamesse)
Chest – Candidates should have a ability to expand chest by 5 cm.
Weight – Body weight should be proportional to age and height of the candidate.
Candidates should be physically fit and free from any disease.

Training will begin from the month of August and October at INS Chilika, Orissa.

Selection of Candidates: On basis of Educational Marks candidate will be called for Written Examination. After Written Examination there will be Physical Ability Test and then Medical Examination.
For the post of Navik (General Duty) first there will be Verbal and Non-Verbal Mental Ability Test of 30 min and for the post of Navik (Domestic Branch) first there will be Non-Verbal Mental Ability Test of 30 min.
After that there will be Written Examination of one-hour which will be Objective Type Questions on the following topics – (01) English, (02) Mathematics, (03) Science, (04) General Knowledge.
Written Examination will be on the month of March/April at Kolkata, Patna, Shillong and Cuttack. If qualified then there will be physical ability test. Physical ability test will be of – 1.6 km race within 6 min, 20 times sit-ups and 10 times push-up. If selected then there will be Interview. Physical ability test and Medical Examination will be at I.N.S. Chilika, Orissa.

How to apply: Candidate may prepare the Application form as per given format on ordinary full scope paper. Application format can be also downloaded from the official website of Indian Coast Guard – www.indiancoastguard.nic.in
Along with the application form enclose the following documents –

  • Attested copy of Madhyamik Admit Card
  • Attested copy of Mark sheet and Certificate of all Educational documents
  • Cast Certificate in case of OBC, SC/ST candidates
  • Attested copy of NCC certificate or a Sports certificate, if any
  • One self addressed envelope (22 x 10) without any postal stamp
  • Recent two Nos. colour passport size photograph (one copy pasted on the Application Form and other copy stitched with the application form)
  • Character certificate (not more than six months old)
  • On the top of the application containing envelope subscribe – “Application for the Post of Navik (General Duty)/Navik (Domestic Branch)-02/2012 Batch”. Create two column box and clearly mentioned DOB, cat, X%, XII%, sports, NCC and choice of Centre- A/B. 

Last Date to Apply: Application should reach within 9 January, 2012 (16 January for far-flung students) at the following address (For candidates from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Tripura, Sikkim and Mizoram) –“The Recruitment Officer, Post Box No.04, Haldia Township, Haldia-721 605, West Bengal”.
Do not send Application form more than once otherwise it may lead to cancellation.
