1. Assistant Engineer (Civil)
Number of vacancies: will be intimated in due course.
Educational Qualification: A degree in Civil Engineering of a recognised University or equivalent qualification.
Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue
is Nepali)
Desirable : One year’s Post-Graduate practical training or study or research or practical engineering experience.
Age Limit: Not more than 32 years as on 01/01/2016 (i.e. born not earlier than the 2nd January, 1984)
Pay Scale: Rs.15600/- – Rs.42000/- and Grade Pay: Rs.5400/-
Upper Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST, 03 years for OBC and 10 years for PWD category. Ex-Serviceman & Others, if any – As per Govt. norms.
Candidates’ Selection: The Public Service Commission, West Bengal will hold a Competitive Examination for recruitment to the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) in Engineering Departments in the under-mentioned services –
(A) WEST BENGAL SERVICE OF ENGINEERS UNDER PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.
(B) WEST BENGAL SERVICE OF ENGINEERS (IRRIGATION) UNDER IRRIGATION AND WATERWAYS DEPARTMENT.
(C) WEST BENGAL PUBLIC HEALTH ENGINEERING SERVICE (CIVIL) UNDER PUBLIC HEALTH ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT.
(D) WEST BENGAL SERVICE OF ENGINEERS (MUNICIPAL ENGINEERING) UNDER MUNICIPAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT.
(E) WEST BENGAL SERVICE OF ENGINEERS (CIVIL) UNDER PANCHAYATS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
The Examination will be held in two successive parts, viz., (i) Written Examination (Multiple choice objective type questions) and (ii) Interview.
The Written Examination will be held in Kolkata centre only in the month of August, 2016 or thereabout followed by the Interview. The Interview of the candidates selected on the basis of the results of the written examination will be held at the Commission’s office in Kolkata

Examination Fee: Candidates must pay Rs.210/- as Examination Fee. Fee can be paid through Online mode during submission of online application form by using Debit/Credit card or Net banking OR can be paid through Bank by means of fee payment Challan. Fee Challan can be downloaded from the official website of PSC West Bengal. See released advertisement for more details.
NO FEE REQUIRED IN CASE OF SC/ST CANDIDATES OF WEST BENGAL AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWD) HAVING PHYSICAL DISABILITY OF 40% AND ABOVE.
How to Apply: Interested and eligible candidates may apply online only through the official website of PSC West Bengal — www.pscwbonline.gov.in (See link to Application form given below) from dated 26/04/2016 to 17/05/2016
Candidates have to first go for “One Time Registration” (link available on top of the left panel in home page of the website www.pscwbonline.gov.in) and fill up all the required data and uploading scanned photo and signature to get User ID and Password.
However, those candidates who have earlier registered themselves with PSC, West Bengal need not register once again. They can use their previous User Id and Password for login into their respective Dashboards.
Upon successful payment of prescribed fee and submission of online application form, the system generated Registration/ Acknowledgement Slip with unique registration number will appear on the computer screen. Candidates must print-out it for future correspondence. DO NOT SEND ANY PRINT-OUT/HARD COPY OR DOCUMENTS TO PSC WEST BENGAL AT THIS STAGE.
