Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Pundibari, Coochbehar (West Bengal), is inviting application from the eligible candidates for the posts of “Assistant Professor” in various Department/ Discipline. Pay Band: Rs. 15,600/-  — Rs.39,100/- +Academic Grade Pay Rs. 6000/-

Age: 37 years as on 01.01.2013. Relaxation of age for 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.
Age may be relaxed for exceptionally qualified /experienced candidates.

Essential qualifications:

1. A 1st or high 2nd class Master’s Degree in the subject or discipline followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or Horticulture or Veterinary & Animal Science or Technology/ Engineering depending on the post.
2. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, ICAR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
3. Candidates who are awarded a Ph.D. degree through a process of admission, registration, course work and external evaluation as laid down in the UGC Regulations, 2009 (Minimum Standards and Procedures for award of M. Phil /Ph.D Degree) and so adopted by the university, shall be exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
4. NET/SLET/SET shall not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.

Desirable Qualification:

1. Candidates without NET but holding Ph.D. degree shall have at least two full length publications having a NASS rating not less than 4, on the last date of submission of the application.
2. A relaxation of 5% marks may be provided at the Graduate and Master’s level for the SC/ST categories.
3. Apart from fulfilling the essential/desirable qualifications, the following specializations are required for the below mentioned posts:
4. Animal Science: Livestock Production & Management/ Animal Nutrition at Master’s level followed by B.V. Sc. / B.V. Sc. & Animal Husbandry at Graduation level.
5. Agricultural Entomology- Agricultural Entomology followed by Bachelor Degree in Agriculture.
6. Agricultural Statistics- Agricultural Statistics followed by Bachelor Degree in Agriculture.
7. Processing and Food Engineering: Food Processing/ Agriculture and Food Engineering/Food Technology followed by B.Tech./B.E. in Agril. Engineering
8. Computer Science & Engineering: Computer Science & Engineering followed by B.E./B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering.
9. Farm Machinery & Power: Farm Machinery and Power
10. Floriculture, Medicinal & Aromatic Plants: Floriculture/ Medicinal & Aromatic Plants
11. Genetics and Plant Breeding: Genetics/ Plant Breeding/ Genetics & Plant Breeding followed by Bachelor Degree in Agriculture.
12. Plantation Crops & Processing: Plantation Crops/ Agricultural Engineering with specialization in Processing and/or Food Engineering
13. Pomology & Post Harvest Technology: Pomology/ Fruits & Orchard Management/ Food Science/ Post Harvest Technology
14. Soil and Water Conservation: Soil & Water Conservation/ Soil & Water Conservation Engineering/ Soil & Water Technology
15. Vegetable and Spice Crops: Vegetable crops and /or spices
16. Biochemistry: Biochemistry/ Agriculture Biochemistry/ Agricultural Chemicals followed by Bachelor degree in Agriculture.
17. Seed Science & Technology: Seed Science/ Seed Science & Technology/ Plant Physiology followed by Bachelor Degree in Agriculture.

Advance increments up to five in number may be allowed for exceptionally qualified and/or experienced candidates. The University has a provision of Career Advancement Scheme for its Teachers.
On the basis of records/ testimonials, selection may be done in absentia in case of internal candidates, if the candidate is abroad/unable to appear before the Selection Committee and formal approach is made to the University in that regard.
