Recruitment of Officers in Territorial Army. Graduate pass and able-bodied candidates can apply.

This is an opportunity for civilians of our Country to join the army. It is based on the concept or enabling able-bodied motivated young men to spend time in a military environment without sacrificing their primary professions. One can remain in their respective profession and at the same time gain the experience of Army life. One can serve their nation in two capacities- as a civilian and as a soldier. No other option allows such variety of experience.
Only medically fit male civilians and Ex-Service Officers from India can apply.

Post: Territorial Army Officers

Qualification: Graduate. Should be gainfully employed in Central/Semi Govt./Pvt. Firm/Own Business.

Age limit: 18yrs-42yrs as on 25.2.2011.

Training Structure: One month basic training in the 1st year of commission. 2 months annual training camp every year including 1st year. 3 months Basic Military Training at TA Trg. School.
Service conditions: Commission is granted every year including 1st year. Three months Post Commissioning training at IMA Dehradun.

Pay Scale: Pay and allowances and privileges will be same as regular Army Officers when embodied for training and military service.
Promotions upto Lt Col time scale subject to fulfilling and Brigadier by selection.
Officers commissioned in TA Infantry may be called for military service for longer duration depending on requirement.

Selection Procedure: For Civilian Candidates were as follows:

  • Candidates are screened by a Preliminary Interview Board (PIB) held at all TA Group Headquarters.
  • Candidates selected by PIB should provide brief bio-data to include details about employment in Central Govt./ Semi-Govt./Pvt.Firm/Own Busines with monthly income from all sources at the time of documentation immediately after PIB. 
  • Successful candidate are then required to further undergo a Service Selection Board and Medical Board before final selection.

Candidates called for PIB are required to bring the following documents:

  • Certificate copy of educational qualification certificate, all certificates & mark sheets beyond matric,
  • Latest Physical Fitness Certificate from a registered MBBS Doctor.
  • Self employed candidates or having own business are required to submit an affidavit on Non-Judicial stamp paper of Rs. 10 duly attested by the deputy commissioner of the District/Gazetted officer, Commissioned Officer, staging nature self employment & income earned with attested photocopy of the latest income Tax Return filed by candidate along with photocopy of Pan card.
  • Service certificate by candidates employed in Central/UT/State Govt./Semi-Govt./ Private sector authenticated by Head Office.

Selection steps for Ex-Serviceman: Candidates are screened by an Army HQ Selection Board held at Addl. Dte Gen TA, Army HQ, ‘L’Block, New-Delhi which is followed by a Medical Board for Successful candidates.

West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
