Eligibility Criteria for RRB Technician Recruitment 2024

Nationality / Citizenship:

A candidate must be one of the following:

• A citizen of India
• A citizen of Nepal
• A subject of Bhutan
• A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, to settle permanently.
• A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam to settle permanently in India.

Educational Qualification:

Technician Grade I Signal:

• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Instrumentation from a recognized University or Institute. Alternatively, a B.Sc. in a combination of any sub-streams of these basic streams from a recognized University or Institute.

OR

• A three-year Diploma in Engineering in the mentioned basic streams or a combination of any of these basic streams.

OR

• An Engineering degree in the mentioned basic streams or a combination of any of the above basic streams.

Technician Grade III:

• Candidates need to finish their Matriculation or SSLC and ITI from recognized schools in the relevant trade. Alternatively, they can complete their Matriculation or SSLC along with an apprenticeship in the relevant trades mentioned above.

Age Limit:

• Technician Grade-I Signal: 18 to 36 Years
• Technician Grade-III: 18 to 33 Years

Age relaxation in the maximum age limit for certain categories or communities, as given below, is available, provided the necessary certificates are submitted.

Category-wise relaxation in upper age limit:

• SC&ST candidates: 05 Years
• OBC candidates: 03 Years
• Ex-servicemen: 03 Years
• PwBD: 10 Years
• Group C & D Railway Staff: Maximum upper age limit 40 Years.

Examination Fee:

Candidates will have to pay the prescribed fee as per their community/ Category detailed below:

• For Candidates belonging to SC / ST / Ex-Serviceman / PWDs / Female / Transgender / Minorities / Economically backward class: Rs. 250/-
• Others: Rs. 500/-

Mode of Fee Payment:

Payment of fees for applications must be made online using internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI. The candidate will bear any service charges incurred.

Candidates can only pay the fee online. No other payment methods will be accepted.

Applications submitted without the required fee will not be considered and will be rejected without further review. No appeals will be entertained against such rejections.

RRB Technician Selection Process 2024

The selection process has three stages. Candidates must pass each stage to proceed to the next one.

1. i) Computer Based Test (CBT) ii) Document Verification (DV) and iii) Medical Examination (ME)

RRB Technician Grade I Signal CBT Exam Pattern 2024:

• Total Duration: 90 min & Total Questions: 100
• There shall be a negative marking @ 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer.
• Normalization of marks will be done for CBT held in multiple shifts.
• The minimum pass percentage for eligibility: UR & EWS – 40%, OBC(NCL) – 30%, SC – 30%, ST – 25%. These percentages may be relaxed by 0% for PwBD candidates in case of a shortage.
• The marks scored in CBT shall be counted for shortlisting of candidates for further stages of this recruitment process.

Syllabus for CBT of Technician Gr. I Signal: Questions will be of objective type with multiple choice answers and are likely to cover topics of the following syllabus.

RRB Technician Online Application Step-by-Step Process

1. Go to the Website: Open your web browser and visit the official website of the Railway Recruitment Board at https://www.rrbapply.gov.in/.
2. Create an Account: Find the ‘Apply’ section on the homepage and click on it. Then, select “Create An Account”.
3. Fill in Details: New users need to provide personal information like nationality, full name, parents’ names, gender, and Aadhar number (if applicable). Returning users can log in with their existing account details.
4. Verify Your Contact: Input your email address and mobile number. You’ll receive a verification code via text message or email. Enter this code to verify your contact details.
5. Set a Password: Choose a strong password and enter the captcha code displayed on the screen.
6. Log In: Once your account is created, log in using your new username (usually your email address) and password.
7. Fill Out the Form: After logging in, complete the application form carefully, providing all required information.
8. Upload Necessary Documents: Scan and upload important documents, including:
   • Your signature
   • A recent passport-sized photograph

Make sure these documents are in the specified format for uploading.

9. Scribe Details (if needed): If you require assistance from a scribe during the exam, provide their details in the appropriate section of the form.
