Good news for all young students and job seekers! In the coming financial year (2026-27), the two biggest banking authorities in India State Bank of India (SBI) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) are going to hire more than 21,000 Clerk / Customer Service Associate (CSA) posts. The best part: the eligibility rules are simple, and the selection steps are easy to understand.

Why Clerk/CSA Recruitment is Special?
Every year thousands of young people apply for bank clerk jobs. But this time the total vacancies are crossing 21,000+. SBI will release its own notification for Clerk / CSA posts, and IBPS will conduct the common recruitment for all other public sector banks. Both recruitments will happen in the 2026-27 financial year (April 2026 to March 2027). If you are looking for a safe and respected job, this is your chance.
Eligibility Criteria
You do not need a big degree to apply. The rules are almost the same for SBI Clerk and IBPS Clerk. Here is what you need:
- Education Qualification: You must have passed graduation from a recognised board.
- Age Limit (as on a fixed date): Your minimum age should be 20 years and maximum 28 years. However, reserved category students get extra age relaxation as per government rules. (Usually 3 to 5 years extra).
- Computer Knowledge: You should have basic computer knowledge. This means you know how to use a computer, type, and work with simple office software. A certificate in computer basics is helpful but not always compulsory.
- Language: You should know the official language of the state you are applying for (reading, writing, speaking).
So if you are a graduate and your age is between 20 to 28 years, you can fill the form.
Selection Process – Just 2 Steps
The selection for Clerk / CSA vacancies is done through a simple process. No interview for most of these posts. Just two exams:
- Preliminary Exam (Prelims): This is the first stage. It has three parts: English, Reasoning Ability, and Numerical Ability (Maths). This is a qualifying exam. You have to pass it to go to the next level. The questions are multiple choice.
- Main Exam (Mains): After clearing prelims, you appear for the mains exam. In mains, there are four sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economic Awareness, English, and Quantitative Aptitude (maths). There is no interview. The final merit list is made based on your mains score.
Important: Both SBI and IBPS follow this pattern. Sometimes there is a skill test (typing) but that is usually qualifying (only need to pass, marks don’t count in final list).
