The online application process commenced on 2nd April 2024 and will remain open until 1st May 2024 (until 12:00 a.m.). Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have completed the 10th-grade examination under the 10+2 system or its equivalent, along with an ITI certificate in the relevant trade.
Age Limit:
The minimum age requirement for applicants is 15 years, and they should have completed this age to be eligible. On the other hand, the maximum age allowed is 24 years, and candidates should not have completed this age to meet the criteria. Age relaxation benefits are applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories as per the rules stipulated.
Training Period and Stipend:
Selected candidates will be appointed as apprentices and will undergo one year of training in their respective trades. Throughout their training period, they will receive a stipend according to the rules set by the Railway Board. Upon completion of their apprenticeship, their training will conclude.
Selection Criteria for Merit List Preparation:
The merit list for selection is prepared based on specific criteria. This involves calculating the average percentage of marks obtained by candidates in both their Matriculation (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) and ITI examinations. Equal weightage is given to both examinations in accordance with the Railway Establishment Rule 201/2017.
Medical Examination:
Selected candidates may be required to undergo a medical examination before finalizing their selection. They should bring a medical certificate in the prescribed format as per the Apprenticeship Act 1961 and Para 4 of the Apprenticeship Rule 1992 (as amended). This certificate must be signed by a Government-authorized Doctor (GAZ), not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon at a Central/State Hospital.
Contractual Obligations:
Upon selection, candidates, or their guardians if they are minors, must enter into an apprenticeship contract with the employer.
