Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Under Ministry of Home Affairs, is recruiting 244 persons for the posts in Pioneer and Technical Cadre—2012-13 — Sub-Inspector (Pioneer- for male and female), Head Constable (Electrician- Male) and Head Constable (Workshop-Male). Madhyamik and Degree candidates who meets the below qualification criteria may apply for the post on the prescribed format. Brief details given below—
1. Sub-Inspector (Pioneer): 32 Nos. (Gen—18; SC—03; ST—03; OBC—08). Both male and female can apply.
Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/ Institute
Age : within 30 yrs.
Pay scale: Rs. 9300-34800 + Grade pay of Rs.4200
2. Head Constable (Electrician): 28 Nos. (Gen—15; SC—04; ST—02; OBC—04; Ex-Serv.—03). Males only
Qualification: Madhyamik or equivalent and two years of experience in respective trade OR one year of Certificate course from ITI/Vocational Institute on respective trade OR two years of Diploma from ITI in respective or equivalent trade.
There will be trade test taken in selection process.
Age: between 18yrs to 25yrs.
Pay scale: Rs. 5200-20200 + Grade pay of Rs.2400
3. Head Constable (Workshop): 184 Nos. (Gen—88; SC—25; ST—13; OBC—40; Ex-Serv.—18). Only male.
Qualification: Madhyamik or equivalent and Diploma in Automobile or Motor Mechanical Engineering OR two years of Certificate course in Automobile or Motor Mechanical Engineering from ITI or equivalent.
Candidates must posses Heavy Vehicle Driving licence
There will be trade test taken in selection process.
Pay Scale: Rs. 5200-20200 + Grade pay of Rs.2400
Age relaxation — Age for the above posts will be counted as on 31/08/2012, relaxation of 3yrs for OBC, 5yrs for SC/ST will be given. For other categories that falls under relaxation will be as per norms.
Physical Standards: —
For the posts of SI (Pioneer) and HC (Workshop): Height—170cms (162.5cms for ST and 165cms for Hill areas candidates); Chest – 80 cms unexpanded and 85cms Expanded (76/81 cms for ST and 78/83cms for Hill areas)
For the post of SI (Pioneer), Female candidates: Height—157cms (150cms for ST and 155cms for Hilly areas)
For the post of HC (Electrician): Height—167.5cms (162.5cms for ST and 165cms for Hill areas); Chest (unexpanded/ expanded)—78cms/83cms (76cms/ 81cms for ST and 78cms/83cms for Hill areas)
Eye sight (for all posts): 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without glasses.
Candidates must be physically fit and free from any defects which can cause hindrance in performing duties, such as knock knee, flat foot, squint and etc.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)—
For Males (in all posts): (i) 100 mtrs race to be completed in 16 seconds, (ii) Longjump of 11ft; (iii) High Jump of 3ft 6inches in 3 chances and (iv) 800 Mtrs race to be completed in 4 Minutes.
For Female (SI- Pioneer): (i) 100 mtrs race in 20 seconds, (ii) Longjump of 9 ft in 3 chances, (iii) High Jump of 3 ft in 3 chances and (iv) 800 mtrs race in 5 Minutes.
There will be Written Examination in the selection process and Technical Test according to posts applied for.
Admit card will be issued to appear in recruitment test. Venue and date will be mentioned on it.

Application fee: Prepare Bank Draft or IPO of Rs.50 in favour of — “ The Accounts Officer Frontier HQ SSB, Lucknow” write payable at, if Draft, “ SBI Lucknow”.
SC/ST/Ex-Serviceman and Female candidates require no application fee.
Application form should be enclosed with following attested documents—
- Attested copies of Educational/ ITI/ Experience, if any
- Attested copy of Age proof/ Caste/ Discharge certificate, as applicable
- IPO/Bank Draft/ Bankers Cheque of Rs. 50, if applicable
- Domicile certificate issued by local revenue authorities for verification of citizenship.
- Two self addressed envelopes of 4”x9” size with Rs.25/- postage stamps affixed on each envelope.
Superscribe the top of the application containing envelope with — “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF (NAME OF POST WITH POST CODE FOR WHICH APPLIED FOR) IN SASHASTRA SEEMA BAL”.
