RRC Chennai – Southern Railway is recruiting 5450 candidates for Group-D posts. Last Dt. 21/10/2013 (05/11/2013 for far flung areas)

Railway Recruitment Cell — Chennai, Southern Railway, is recruiting 5450 candidates for the Group – D posts – Trackman, Helper, Porter, Peon, Safaiwala, Khalasi, Track Maintainer and Etc. Employment Notification No. RRC 02/ 2013 dated: 21-09-2013. Eligible candidates may submit their application either through Online system or Offline in hard copy. Qualification norms and brief details is given below —

Educational Qualification: Class 10 pass or ITI or equivalent. Candidates with higher qualification can also apply.

Age Limit: Between 18yrs to 33yrs as on 01-01-2014. Upper age relaxation for SC/ST – 5yrs; OBC- 3yrs; PWD- 10yrs; Ex-Serviceman and Others – As per norms.

Candidates’ Selection:
Selection of the candidates will be through Written Examination followed by Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Examination.

The duration of the Written Examination shall be 1½ hours. The Written Examination shall be based on Class Ten level (10 Standard) consisting of 100 multiple choice objective type questions aimed to asses the General Knowledge/Awareness, Mathematics and reasoning etc.
The question paper shall be printed in Hindi, Urdu, English and in the Regional Languages viz. Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada.
There will be negative marking for wrong answers. 

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)—
For Male candidates: Run of 1000 mtrs in 4 minutes 15 seconds in one chance.
For Female candidates: Run of 400 mtrs in 3 minutes 10 seconds in one chance.

Examination Fee:
Rs.100/- is to be paid as examination fee. Fees can be paid by means of fee payment challan (in case of Online Application form) through any branch of State Bank of India OR can be paid in form of DD/IPO (in case of offline Application form) drawn in favour of – The Assistant Personnel Officer/ Recruitment, RRC, Chennai – 600 008 and payable at – Chennai. Write Employment notice number, candidate’s name and Name of the post applied for on the reverse side of DD/IPO.

No Examination Fee for SC/ST/ Ex-Servicemen, PWD, Women, Minorities and Economically Backward Classes.

How to Apply: Apply Online or Offline. However candidates are encouraged to apply online for various benefits comparing to offline application.
To Apply Online: For Online Application form, visit the official website of RRC- Chennai — www.iroams.com (Live URL to Application form is given below) and fill the application with correct details and finally submit the application and confirm the details.

One time password (OTP) will be sent to the candidates mobile number. With this OTP candidates may print-out the pre-filled  Fee Payment Challan and may deposit the prescribed fee through any branches of State Bank of India, Indian Bank or Post Office (This is not required for categories exempted from paying fees).
Candidates may print-out the Acknowledgement Slip for records. THERE IS NO NEED TO SEND ANY FORM OR DOCUMENTS TO RRC. 

To Apply Offline: Print-out the Application form from the website of RRC (See below) and send the duly filled application form along with attested copies of enclosures in support of eligibility and DD/IPO of prescribed examination fee (not applicable for candidates exempted from fees).
The Application form along with enclosures must reach within the last date mentioned below.

Online Application form can be submitted from dated 21/09/2013 to 21/10/2013 (5PM). No any documents are to be sent by Post.

In case of candidates willing to apply in hard copy — Offline Application form (hard copy application) along with enclosures must reach on or before 21/10/2013 (05/11/2013 for candidates from Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu & Kashmir State, Lahaul-Spiti District and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep) at the following address — “The Assistant Personnel Officer/ Recruitment, Railway Recruitment Cell, Southern Railway, No.5, 3rd Floor, Dr. PV Cherian Road, Egmore, Chennai – 600 008”.
