Vacancies: 134 Nos. (Gen- 70; OBC- 36; SC- 19; ST-09). Out of them 5 Nos. is reserved for PWD candidates.
Vacancies were further breaks ups into Language wise. Candidates have option to appear for more than one language for the Examination/ Interview if he/she has studied those languages upto Secondary school level. Break up of vacancies according to Language wise (Language code given) were as follows—

15. Kannada: 02 nos. (Language code- O)
16. Malyalam: 05 nos. (Language code- P)

Essential Qualification: (i) Degree from recognised University and
(ii) Diploma in Journalism or Diploma/ Degree in Mass Communication or equivalent.
Candidates should note since the recruitment will be made language wise therefore candidates should make sure that they have studied the above mentioned Language upto Secondary level school. For more information refer the website of SSC – http://www.ssc.nic.in
Pay Scale: Rs.9300 – Rs.34800 and Grade pay of Rs.4200 per month
Age Limit: within 30yrs as on 1/8/2012. Age relaxation— OBC-3yrs; SC/ST- 5yrs; PWD- 10yrs, Ex-Serviceman- 5yrs, Others—as per govt. norms.
Application Fee: The requisite fee (Rs.100) should be paid through State Bank of India challan or using online payment facility of SBI.
SC/ST/ PWD and Women candidates do not require to pay fee.
Selection Steps: Candidates will be selected through Written Examination followed by Interview. Written Examination will be of 300 marks and Interview will be of 100 marks.
There will be 2 papers, i.e. Paper-I (150 marks) and Paper-II (150 marks). Paper –I will be Objective types (OMR sheets will be provided) on following topics—(i) General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 Questions- 50 marks), (ii) General English (50 Questions- 50 marks), (iii) General Awareness (50 Questions- 50 marks) And Paper-II will be Descriptive type on—Journalism/ Mass Communication (150 marks). There will be negative marking in Paper-I of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

How to Apply: Candidates are required to apply online from the official website of SSC. Candidates can opt any one of following website for Online registration— http://www.ssconline.nic.in OR http://www.sscregistration.sifyitest.com. More information and complete Advt. can be read from there.
Registration is to be made in two parts. First of all candidates should make Part-I registration which can be done from dated 28th April to 23rd May 2012 and then only proceed to Part-II registration which can be done only from dated 24th May 2012 to 25th May 2012.
After Registration of Part-I candidates are required to deposit application fee from SBI challan or can be paid through net banking.
During Part-II registration candidates will have to mention the fee details as well as will have to upload scan copy of photograph and scanned signature. For details, refer the above mentioned website.
Last Date: Part-I Registration can be made till 23rd May 2012 and Part-II Registration from 24th May to 25th May 2012.

Along with graduation you should have done Diploma in Journalism or Diploma/ Degree in Mass Communication or its equivalent.
