NAME OF THE POSTS AND VACANCIES:
1. Sub-Inspector of Police (Un-armed Branch)
No. of Vacancies: 494 posts (UR-272, SC-109, ST-29, OBC-84)
2. Sub-Inspector of Police (Armed Branch)
No. of Vacancies: 174 posts (UR-94, SC-38, ST-11, OBC-31)
DETAILS REGARDING QUALIFICATION, AGE & PAY SCALE ARE GIVEN BELOW:-
Educational Qualification:
i) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent.
ii) The candidate must be able to speak, read and write Bengali Language (not applicable to the candidates who are permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts). For details please see the Official Advt.
Age Limit: Minimum 20 years and maximum 27 years as on 01.01.2019.
Pay Scale: Rs. 7,100 – 37,600/- plus Grade Pay Rs. 3,900/-
Only Male candidates are eligible to apply.
The selected candidates will undergo Basic Training and on successful completion of training, the candidates will be placed on Probation for two years.
Upper Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST and 03 years for OBC category. Reserved Category candidates from the states other than West Bengal will be treated as General Category candidates.
Physical Standards:
(i) For Sub-Inspector of Police (Un-armed Branch): Height — 167 cm; Chest (unexpanded) — 79 cm; Chest (expanded) — 84 cm; Weight — 56 kg. For Gorkhas, Rajbanshis, Garwalis and ST: Height — 160 cm ; Chest (unexpanded) — 76 cm; Chest (expanded) — 81 cm; Weight — 52 kg.
(ii) For Sub-Inspector of Police (Armed Branch): Height — 173 cm; Chest (unexpended) — 86 cm; Chest (expanded) — 91 cm; Weight — 60 kg. For Gorkhas, Rajbanshis, Garwalis and ST: Height — 163 cm ; Chest (unexpanded) — 81 cm; Chest (expanded) — 86 cm; Weight — 54 kg.
Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.
Candidates’ Selection: Selection of candidates will be through Preliminary Examination, Physical Measurement Test (PMT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Final Combined Competitive Examination and Personality Test.

Application Fee: Candidates must pay Rs. 270/- (Rs. 20/- for SC/ST of West Bengal only) as Application Fee. Fee can be paid through Online mode during submission of online application form by using Debit/Credit card or Net banking OR can be paid through Bank by means of fee payment Challan. How to Apply: Application form can be either submitted Online or Offline. For online application, form can be submitted only through the official website of West Bengal Police — www.wbpolice.gov.in (See Application form’s link given below) from dated 10.08.2019 to 09.09.2019.
Upon successful payment of prescribed fee and submission of online application form, the system generated Registration/ Acknowledgement Slip with unique registration number will appear on the computer screen. Candidates must print-out it for future correspondence. DO NOT SEND ANY PRINT-OUT/HARD COPY OR DOCUMENTS TO ANYWHERE AT THIS STAGE. All the verification will be done in due course.
