TNTET 2026 for Working Teachers Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must ensure they meet the eligibility requirements before applying for the TNTET 2026. The eligibility is primarily based on the candidate’s employment status and educational qualifications.
- Employment Status: Must be a working teacher appointed on or before 01.09.2025 as SGT, BT Assistant, or equivalent cadre on Time Scale/Consolidated/Part-time pay in recognized schools in Tamil Nadu.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess the educational qualifications prescribed by the NCTE and the relevant Tamil Nadu Government Special Rules (G.O.(Ms).No.13, G.O.(Ms).No.144, G.O.(Ms).No.12) for their respective posts, including SGTs, BT Assistants, BRTEs, and Special Education Teachers (IEDSS).
TNTET 2026 Exam Pattern and Structure
The TNTET consists of two separate papers. Paper-I is for teachers handling classes I-V, and Paper-II is for teachers handling classes VI-VIII. Both papers will have 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks, with a duration of 3 hours.
