The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCIL), Fleet Personnel Department, is inviting application from Unmarried Male and Female Graduates for recruitment as Trainee Marine Engineer. Interested candidates may submit their Online application from the official website of SCIL. Qualification norms and brief details is given below —
TRAINEE MARINE ENGINEER
Educational Qualification: Degree in Mechanical Engineering /Mechanical & Automation Engineering from AICTE Approved Engineering College. No equivalent degree other than above will be accepted.
Candidates must be in possession of a valid degree in Engineering certificate with minimum 50% marks in final year of Engineering with a good academic record throughout the degree curriculum and should have secured at least 50% marks in English language at 12th class.
Age Limit: Candidate belonging to UR/OBC Category must be born on or after 01.01.1986. (01-01-1981 in case of SC/ST category). Upper age relaxation is as per Govt. norms.
Candidate must have good health and should be fit for sea service as per existing MS Medical rules 2000 applicable to sea farers.
Selection of the candidates will be through All India Written Test. The Written Test will be of two hours duration, which will be in the form of multiple choice questions (MCQs). Written examination will focus on MCQ’s on Quantitative Aptitude test, Professional Knowledge test, English Language test and Reasoning Ability test. The questions of the test will be bilingual (English and Hindi).
The written test will be held at Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai only. Tentative date of Written Examination—28th July,2013 (Sunday)
List of eligible candidates for the All India written examination will be published on The Shipping Corporation Of India’s website — www.shipindia/career/fleet-personnel
Admit card is to be downloaded from the above website which will be available before written examination. No Admit card will be sent by post to the candidates address. Candidates must regularly visit the site for new notification.
Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) Training and Course Fees: After final short listing, the eligible candidate has to undergo shore based training for 12 months at Kochi / Mumbai. The fees for training is approximately Rs.3,00,000/- (Approx. Rs. Three Lakhs only).
Application Fee: Rs.1000/- for General (UR) & OBC candidate’s and Rs.500/- for SC & ST candidate’s .
Candidates must deposit the Application Fee before submitting the Online application. The fee is to be paid through State Bank of India (See the Advt. link given below for details)

After successful submission of Online Application form, candidates must print-out the system generated Registration Slip and must sent it to the Shipping Corporation of India along with attested copies of testimonials (Attestation by Gazetted Officer), such as – SSC/HSC passing certificate, Age proof, Degree/Provisional certificate, All semester Mark sheets, Caste Certificate and fee deposit slip with name, address and Registration number on backside.
Last Date of Application: The Online application form can be submitted till 03rd July,2013.
