1. Trainee Marine Engineer
Qualification: Unmarried boys/girls with Degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture from recognised Institute/College may apply. Candidates who are waiting for final year result may also if their result is likely to come out within 31/7/2012.
Candidates must have acquired 50% marks in final year of Engineering and should have secured minimum 50% marks in English language at Class-X or Class-XII.
Age limit: Candidates must be within 28 years as on 1/1/2013, i.e. date of birth must be on or after 1/1/1985. Women candidates will receive 2yrs of age relaxation. SC/ST candidates will receive 5yrs of Age relaxation.
Medical Standard: Should be in good health and fit for sea service as per medical rules to sea farers. Should have good eye sight and free from color blindness.
Selection Steps: Selection will be made through All India Written Test. Qualified candidates from written test will be then called for Personal Interview.
The written test will be held at Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai only.
The questions will be of Multiple Choice Questions on Quantitative Aptitude test, Professional Knowledge test, English Language test and Reasoning Ability test. Written Examination will be tentatively 22/07/2012 and Interview around 13th August 2012. Admit card will be available on the website in due course.
Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) Training and Course Fee: Finally selected and eligible candidates will have to undergo a shore based training which will be of 12 months. The fee for this course is Rs.3 Lacks only. Fee is to be paid directly to the training institute.
After completion of training period (Part A & Part B), candidates will be made permanent and can gradually rise to the rank of Chief Engineer Officer on the ship.
