Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is going to conduct a Competitive Examination — Geologists’ Examination-2012, for the recruitment purpose in 382 Nos. posts of – Geologist (Group-A), Assistant Geologist, Jr. Hydrogeologists and Assistant Hydrogeologists. Interested and eligible candidates may apply Online only from the official website of UPSC (Link given below). Qualification norms and etc in brief is given below—
Category I : (Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines).
- Geologist, Group ‘A’: 300 Nos.
- Assistant Geologist Grade—I (Group-B): 67 Nos.
Qualification Requirement (For both above posts): Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo- Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry (For detailed terms, refer the Advt.)
Age Limits (for both above posts): between 21yrs to 32yrs as on 1/08/2012.
Category II : (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources)
1. Jr. Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) Group ‘A’: 3 Nos.
Age Limits: between 21yrs to 35yrs as on 1/08/2012.
2. Assistant Hydrogeologists, Group ‘B’: 12 Nos.
Age Limits: between 21yrs to 30yrs as on 1/08/2012.
Qualification Required (For both above posts): Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology OR Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognised University. (for detailed terms, refer the Advt.)
Application fee: Rs.200/- by depositing the money from any branch of State Bank of India or by using the Net banking facility.
No Application fee is required for SC/ST and for All Female candidates.

Geologists’ Examination-2012 will be commence on 15th September 2012 at the following centres — Ahmedabad, Allahabad , Bangalore , Bhopal , Chandigarh , Chennai , Cuttack , Delhi , Dispur , Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Shillong, Shimla, Thiruvananthapuram.
