West Bengal Police Recruitment Board, Kolkata, is inviting application for total 760 posts of “Warder/ Female Warder” under Department of Correctional Administration. Madhyamik pass boys and girls may apply for the vacancies. Selection of the candidates will be through PMT, PET, Written Test and Interview. Name of the Post: WARDER/ FEMALE WARDER
Number of Vacancies: 760 Posts.

Male candidates — 659 posts (Gen—351; SC—151; ST—41; OBC—116)
Female candidates—101 posts (Gen—55; SC—22; ST—7; OBC—17)

 

Educational Qualification: Madhyamik pass or its equivalent from recognized board and knowledge in Computer application.

 

Age Limit: The candidates must not be less than 18 years and not more than 27 years as on 01/01/2015. The Upper age limit may be relaxed for the SC/ ST candidates of West Bengal only by 05 years and OBC candidates of West Bengal only by 03 years. The upper age limit is also relaxable for the Ex-serviceman as per existing Government Rules.

 

Candidates should meet the following Physical Standards: —

1. For Warder: Height—167cms (160cms for Gorkhas, Garwalies, Rajbanshis and ST); Chest (Unexpanded/ expanded)—78cms/83cms (76/81cms for Gorkhas, Garwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes); Weight—Proportionate to height as per medical standard

2. For Female Warder: Height—160cms (152cms for Gorkhas, Garwalies, Rajbanshis and ST); Chest — Not applicable; Weight—Proportionate to height as per medical standard

The candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein, squint eyes etc. The minimum vision should be 6/6 with or without glasses. They should possess high colour vision and should not be colour blind.

 

Pay Scale: Rs.5400—25200 and Grade Pay: Rs.2600/-

 

Candidates’ Selection: Selection of the candidates will be through Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Candidates who qualify in PMT and PET will have to appear in the Written Examination followed by the Interview.

Physical Efficiency Test will be as follows: —

i) For Warder: – Long Distance Run – 1600 mtr. (Qualifying time is 06 minutes 30 seconds).
ii) For Female Warder: – Long Distance Run – 400 mtr. (Qualifying time is 02 minutes).

The venues for PMT & PET will be decided by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board, in due course and same will be intimated to the eligible candidates.

The Written Examination will have 60 Multiple Choice (Four choices) Objective Type Questions (MCQs) carrying 1.5 marks each, i.e. full marks will be 90. There will be negative marking for wrong answers.

Written Examination shall be in the following subjects — (i) General Awareness and General Knowledge, (ii) English, (iii) Elementary Mathematics (Madhyamik standard), (iv) Reasoning and (v) Computer Literacy.

Selected number of candidates on basis of Written Examination will be called for Interview which will bear 10 marks in full. In the Interview, the general awareness and suitability of the candidate for public service will be tested. The Interview Board will also test the acquisition of Computer Literacy.
On the basis of the marks obtained in the Written Examination and the Interview, a merit list of the provisionally selected candidates will be prepared by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.

Application Fee: Rs.200/- for unreserved/general and OBC candidates. Fee can be paid through online mode using Debit/Credit or net banking. Candidates may also submit the fee and application through authorized/listed Tathya Mitra Kendra in West Bengal. In such cases Tathya Mitra Kendra may charge Rs.20/- from the applicant as Service charges.

NO APPLICATION FEE IN CASE OF SC/ST CANDIDATES OF WEST BENGAL. Note: SC/ST, OBC candidates of other States may apply as General/Unreserved candidates.

On successful submission of the application, the applicants shall be provided with an auto-generated receipt with unique Application Serial No. Candidates must print-out it and shall retain the same safely for future correspondence.

Offline Application: Candidates willing to submit application through Offline mode may visit the official website of West Bengal (See URL below) to download the Application form. In order to download the offline form, candidates will require to provide some basic details online and then offline form will be generated to download. Candidates may submit one application only. In case candidates submitting more than one application then their all submitted application will be cancelled/rejected.
