Eligibility Criteria
Candidates willing to apply for RRB Technician CEN 02/2026 must fulfil the prescribed eligibility criteria in terms of nationality, age limit, educational/technical qualification, and medical standards, as on the relevant dates specified in the CEN.
Nationality
A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a citizen of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and certain other specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India, subject to possession of a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.

Q. Can candidates awaiting their final qualification results apply for RRB Technician 2026?
No. Candidates must already possess the prescribed educational/technical qualification as on the closing date of the online application (29.07.2026). Those awaiting final results are not eligible to apply.
Medical Standards
Candidates must meet the prescribed medical fitness standards for the post opted for, which include vision standards classified as A-3, B-1, B-2, or C-1 depending on the post, along with tests for colour vision, binocular vision, and night vision, as detailed in the Indian Railway Medical Manual.
Educational Qualification
Post-wise educational and technical qualifications are detailed in Annexure-A of the official CEN. Candidates are advised to check the annexure carefully, as qualifications vary across the 25 post categories. Note that a Diploma/Degree in Engineering will not be accepted in lieu of Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA)/ITI for Technician Grade-III posts unless specifically stated.

Important Instructions for Candidates
The RRB has issued several important instructions for candidates appearing in the CBT:
- Exam City & Date Link: The link for viewing exam city and date, and downloading travel authority for SC/ST candidates, will be live approximately 10 days prior to the exam date on the official websites of all RRBs.
- E-Call Letters: Downloading of e-call letters will start 4 days prior to the exam date mentioned in the Exam City and Date intimation link.
- Aadhaar Linked Biometric Authentication: Candidates will undergo Aadhaar-linked biometric authentication at the exam center before entering the exam hall. Candidates must bring their original Aadhaar card or a printout of e-verified Aadhaar. Those who have not yet authenticated their identification through Aadhaar verification are advised to do so by logging in at www.rrbapply.gov.in.
- Aadhaar Must Be Unlocked: Candidates, including those who verified their Aadhaar during application submission, are requested to ensure their Aadhaar remains in an unlocked condition in the UIDAI system before coming to the exam center.
- Updated Aadhaar Details: The Aadhaar card should be updated with the correct name, date of birth (as per Class 10th certificate), latest photograph, biometrics (if not updated upon reaching 15 years of age), address, and father’s name.
- Official Website Only: Candidates are advised to refer only to the official websites of RRBs for the latest updates. They should not be misled by unauthenticated sources.
- Beware of Touts: Candidates are warned against touts who try to misguide them with fake promises of appointment on illegal consideration. RRB selections are based purely on the Computer Based Test (CBT) and merit of the candidates.

RRB Technician Application Form 2026
The online application process for RRB Technician CEN 02/2026 will start from 30th June 2026 and will be accepted only through the official websites of the respective RRBs. A separate application must be submitted for each Pay Level, as a separate CBT will be conducted for each Pay Level, and the examination fee must also be paid separately for each Pay Level.

RRB Technician 2026 Exam Pattern
The CBT will be of objective, multiple-choice type, with negative marking of one-third mark for every wrong answer. Normalisation of marks will be done for CBTs conducted across multiple shifts.

CBT Pattern for Technician Grade-III (Pay Level-2)
The CBT for Technician Grade-III will also comprise 100 questions for 100 marks over a duration of 90 minutes, covering Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness on Current Affairs, along with relevant Trade-related questions as applicable to the post.
