The National Testing Agency has released the NTA Exam Calendar 2027. Through a public notice dated 16 September 2026, the agency has published the tentative schedule of all examinations it plans to conduct from the December 2026 cycle up to March 2027.

The NTA Exam Calendar 2027 covers 14 examinations in total, including JEE (Main) Session 1, CUET (PG) 2027, UGC NET December 2026, Joint CSIR UGC NET, CMAT 2027, the NIFT Entrance Examination and several defence and school-level entrance tests. Candidates can download the full calendar from the official NTA website at https://nta.ac.in/.

Why the NTA Exam Calendar 2027 Matters
NTA states that the calendar has been placed in the public domain to bring greater transparency, predictability and convenience for candidates. By publishing the tentative window of each exam months in advance, the agency allows students, parents, schools, coaching institutes and universities to plan their academic year, board exam preparation and revision schedules without guesswork.
For students preparing for more than one exam — say, JEE Main and the Sainik School entrance test, or UGC NET and CSIR NET — the calendar is especially useful because it shows exactly where the date clashes and overlaps lie.

December 2026: Defence Schools, SWAYAM and the NET Season
The cycle opens on 6 December 2026 with the Rashtriya Indian Military College entrance test, followed by SWAYAM from 8 to 12 December and the Rashtriya Military Schools exam on 13 December.
The biggest event of the month is UGC NET December 2026, scheduled across six days from 14 to 19 December 2026, with 20–21 December kept as buffer days. The Joint CSIR UGC NET (December cycle) follows immediately on 20 and 21 December 2026.
Note the overlap: the CSIR NET dates fall on the same two days reserved as buffer for UGC NET. If NTA needs to use those buffer days, one of the two schedules could shift — so aspirants sitting for both should watch the official portals closely.
January 2027: JEE Main Session 1 Takes Centre Stage
January is the busiest month for school-leaving candidates.
- Army Cadets College — 4 January 2027
- SHRESHTA (NETS) — 10 January 2027
- NIFT Entrance Examination — 10 January 2027
- JEE (Main) Session 1 — 22–24 and 28–30 January 2027, with 31 January as buffer
- All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination — 31 January 2027
JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is proposed over six days in two blocks, which is in line with the pattern NTA has followed in recent years. Candidates should note that the NIFT entrance and SHRESHTA (NETS) exams fall on the same day, and that the Sainik School entrance test is scheduled on the same date reserved as JEE Main’s buffer day.
February 2027: CMAT and NITTT Part 1
Management aspirants get a clear single-day slot: the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2027 is proposed for 7 February 2027. The National Initiative for Technical Teachers Training (NITTT) Part 1 is scheduled for 26–27 February 2027.
March 2027: CUET PG 2027 Spread Across 17 Days
The CUET (PG) 2027 is by far the longest exam window in the calendar — 17 days, spread over 1–5 March, 8 March, 12–20 March and 24–25 March 2027, with 30–31 March kept as buffer. Given the number of subjects and the volume of candidates, NTA typically spreads CUET PG across multiple shifts each day.
NITTT Part 2 is proposed for 5 and 7 March 2027.
Key Points Every Candidate Should Note
- The dates are tentative. NTA has clearly stated that the schedule may change due to administrative, academic, statutory, logistical or other unforeseen circumstances.
- This calendar is not an exam notification. Publishing the calendar does not amount to a formal notification for any exam. Detailed Information Bulletins and exam-specific notices will be issued separately at the appropriate time.
- Check the official portals regularly. Application schedules, exam city intimation slips, admit cards, answer keys and results will be announced on nta.ac.in and on each exam’s dedicated portal.
- Rely only on official sources. NTA has advised candidates and stakeholders to trust only information published on its official website and the respective examination portals — not on unverified social media posts or third-party lists.
- Buffer days are real dates. Where buffer days are listed, keep those dates free. They are held in reserve in case an exam needs to be extended or rescheduled.
What Is Not in This NTA Exam Calendar 202
Because the published calendar runs only up to March 2027, some of NTA’s biggest exams do not appear in it:
- NEET (UG) 2027 — usually held in early May
- JEE (Main) Session 2 — usually held in April
- CUET (UG) 2027 — usually held in May
- NCET, NEET PG-linked tests and other recruitment exams falling after March 2027
NTA is expected to publish the next part of the calendar in due course. Until then, any date circulating for these exams is speculation, not an official schedule.
